ASU will host Research Experiences for Undergraduates in "Research & Training in Multidisciplinary field of Regenerative Sciences for Undergraduates" in Summer 2024. º£½ÇÖ±²¥ will work with research mentors in a 10-week multidisciplinary summer research program. Faculty from biological sciences, chemistry, physical sciences and other related disciplines will serve as mentors for the program. All research projects will be based on novel concepts of design and development of new nanomaterials for biological applications. º£½ÇÖ±²¥ will participate in a full-time closely mentored lab research project along with seminars and various professional development workshops, such as the responsible conduct of research, professional communication skills, career opportunities in academia and industry, and the graduate school application process. º£½ÇÖ±²¥ will present their findings at a poster session or research symposium during the final week of the program. Housing, a stipend, and meal and travel allowances will be provided. º£½ÇÖ±²¥ will be selected based on their interest in research, academic record, and letters of recommendation. Summer interns will be required to be tracked after the program and must respond to an automatic email sent via the NSF reporting system.

Location: º£½ÇÖ±²¥, Montgomery, Alabama

Program Dates: *May 20 to July 26, 2024 (10 weeks)

*Dates are subject to change.

Expenses: $600 stipend per week; on-campus housing; meal and travel allowances available.

Research Track (tentative):

  • Design and Fabrication of Polymeric Tissue Scaffolds by 3-D Printing

  • Tissue regeneration on 3-D scaffolds

  • Strategies to manipulate bacterial growth on tissue scaffolds

  • Regulation of immune response in cells

  • Using LIBS technology for biological detection

  • Embryo Neuromuscular and Cardiac Development

  • Exosomes as Biomarkers

Participants:  A total of 10 students will be accepted. º£½ÇÖ±²¥ must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in a bachelor degree program (biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, physics, material science, engineering, biomedical science and related fields). We hope to provide opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds, so if you identify with an under-represented minority group from colleges with limited research opportunities, are economically disadvantaged, we encourage you to apply.  If you will graduate in May or June during the year of the program, you are not eligible for the summer experience.
